I have a black skirt that I has "iron shine" on the front of it. Is there any way to get rid of it or is it ruined?

Not sure if there is a way to rid it. I have that on a pair of black dress pants. I've washed them over and over and you can still see it. I don't know that it will ever go away, unfortunatly. :(

You've overheated the fabric, so no, I don't believe there's anyway to get rid of it. Be sure you aren't using an iron setting that's too hot for whatever fabric you're ironing. I use the vertical steam setting on my iron for almost all of my clothes because I kept getting that same shine on my pants.

Try putting a clean white man's handkerchief dipped in vinegar on the spot, and lightly press. Wash it again to get rid of the vinegar smell. I seem to recall that working, but I try not to buy anything I'm going to have to iron, so it's been a long time.

dye the dress black, or buy a new one. iron shine pretty much means it is a house dress now. or maybe you could place a patch or some kind of design over the area. be creative.
