Yes, that's absolutely true.

His mother lost her sight as the result of typhoid, while his father was actually "legally" blind, not completely sightless.

Yes, Jim's parents were both blind. His mother was blind, and his Dad went blind when Jim was a kid. Jim attended James Lick High School in East San Jose, Ca. He got a scholarship to Stanford University. He won the Heisman trophy in 1970 against some impressive competition-namely: notre Dame's joe Theisman and Ole Miss' Archie Manning. Jim Plunkett was drafted by the New England Patriots, who were horrible...i remember watching him scrambling for his life behind a pretty bad offensive line. he went on to win a Super bowl with the Oakland Raiders over my team, the Philadelphia Eagles.....I always liked and respected Plunkett...he was tough even when the chips were down. he came from a humble background and overcame challenges to become a champ.
