I lost my son in October...some days i feel ok, others i wish to join him in heaven. Is it possible to make it through the loss of a child without counseling? Will it ever not feel like my heart has been run through a woodchipper?

the death of someone we love is the hardest life change anyone can go thru. With time, the pain does indeed fade, but the loss is there forever. Dismiss joining him from your mind, you still have a life to live, and since he could not, I think you owe it to him to fully live yours. Time does fade the pain, you will always miss him, but over time the heart mends and your life does go on.

They say time heals all wounds but that doesn't help one bit when you are feeling the pain of a lost loved one. I have had close family members that have died and it really hurts for a long time. Putting your faith in God does help if you believe in Him but still it takes a good bit of time for some of the hurt to go away. If you can stay busy it will help keep your mind off of what happened, but when you go to sleep it is still there. Try to do good things for other people and see if that helps. Just remember your son would probably want you to go on. Good luck and stay in there don't give up!

I personally believe that when a loved one passes, they are still with you. It is the body that dies, and the essence of the person, or child, goes on. Your son, as far as I am concerned is still with you. You may not see him, but he is there. I am sure that he would not want you to hurt so much for a very very long time. One day, a light will go off on your head and you will know, that everything is O.K. Look out for little signs from him, it may take a while, but if you honestly believe that his spirit is with you, then you will start to feel him near you.

I also believe that when we ourselves, go on, we will see our loved ones and our wonderful pets, waiting for us.

Peace and love

Just continue to pray for God to give you the strength to go on each day. It's still too soon for you to feel much of anything, but in time your heart will begin to heal. God Bless you this day and always.
