It was 1987's The Chipmunk Adventure. For trivia's sake, the three "Chipettes" names were Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor

there is alvin and the chipmunks who are all male but there was a movie called the chipmunk adventure who had 3 female chipmunks as the 3 chipmunks girlfriends

Yeah, it is "Alvin and the Chipmunks". I google "three chipmunks movie" and it came up. I think it was also a show too.

it was a cartoon for years as well.There was a few movies about them but just cartoon characters
