Wouldn't it just slow them down? After all they will just rebuild what is bombed. You can't bomb knowledge.

Bush family,I was under the impression most of their centrifuges and came from A Q Khan/Pakistan and N Korea. Feel free to blame Clinton, even though the question in no way casts blame to anyone. I try to ask non partisan questions.

prevent them from getting resources for nuclear weapon, although i know that will not exactly stop them from building nuclear weapon because theres always a backdoor. One way or another they might(will) be able to obtain what they want.

"You can't bomb knowledge." True but building a nuclear weapon requires the use of plutonium or uranium. Both of which are almost impossible to acquire secretly. Destroy these materials or at least their ability to enrich to weapons grade, and you prevent their acquisition of the weapon.

That said, I believe the best policy is still diplomacy. We have lost the moral authority to demand that other countries abandon their plans to acquire what we have. Last time I checked, we are still the only country to have used a nuke on the innocent. And the best way to keep it that way is through diplomacy. Reagan/Gorbachev had cooler heads and peace prevailed. The cowboy in office now is going to get us all killed. Hopefully, the next President will bring about a return to common sense.

It won't stop them but it will set their program back 4 to five years. Setting up equipment to enrich uranium takes a long time. During that time a lot of things can happen.Regime change or the international community coming together to stop them. I have a question........Why would Iran with the largest supply of oil and natural gas in the world want to power their country with what would be a much more expensive source?

Building nuclear weapons is a long, drawn out and EXPENSIVE process. It takes quite some time to refine the uranium because you need a lot and it has to be highly enriched.

Both the cost and the time of rebuilding would be barriers that would stop Iran from making a nuclear weapon.

Not that I am advocating bombing Iran, but Israel bombed a nuclear weapons research center in Iraq back in the 1981. As we know, Iraq never developed a nuclear weapon.

Are we going to get that stupid. I do not even think it would slow them down at all. We have kept the country in the dark for years and we have limited intelligence. They are sending bombs to Iraq what is to stop them from shipping them here. I would hope we would see a way to some diplomatic resolve.

Centrifuges are not easy to make. China supplied most of them to Iran.

A deal Clinton made with China, allowed a special U.S. company to be sold to China. That company makes special magnets for centrifuges and nuclear missile guidance systems.

It takes a lot of time and resources to build those facilities. Destruction would delay them for several years.

What I find significant is that Iran was denying having a nuclear weapons program - then was forced to admit that they did when enough evidence was collected. Now they claim that they voluntarily stopped it in 2003. Given their past lies...

is this what is wanted or is this a fear..that it will happen

they are getting enriched uranium from Russia..

so why do they need to enrich it themselves and make the product derivative that can arm those 1250 mile missles they have bragged about developing?
