'Backups' are NOT 'Recovery CDs'.
Recovery CDS are the ones that came with your computer that contain your copy of Vista and all the drivers and software your computer needs to be put back to its 'factory settings'.
A 'backup' that you've made has important files that you yourself have saved as a backup. They do not contain the files needed for a Vista Re-Installation. They may or may not contain all your drivers and software.
You will need to use the recovery discs that came with your computer FIRST and when the new install is in place and ready, just stick your backup cds in and copy and paste those files you would like back on your computer. good luck to ya! :)

defo go with what cookie says..the recovery cds wipe the drive and reinstalls all your factory settings then its back to downloads and application hunting to get you back to normal..worth it though if your having probs and have backed up your data as you said

the recovery cd should start when inserted in the drive thus takin over your system if you allow it to do its thing!!
