OK, now that I have your attention,... Do you feel that women should be allowed to go around shirtless just like men are? Is this not a form of descrimination?

ziggy - interesting point, but I do not think this would last for long as society would eventually get used to it.

Kimandy - I am male but I do not feel that I am a sexist. I have just come into an experience that made me wonder. When my wife and I were married we had a honeymoon in Bali. Across the road from the hotel there were several topless beaches that I did not know were topless until I started walking down one to a seafood bar recommended by the tour guide. Sure as I first noticed the first pair of ladies upon the beach I was shocked at first but, after about an hour the shock was over and it was no longer a big deal.
I came to realize that it was a big deal because my culture taught me that it was a big deal and, I will admit that when I was younger I was a sexist because I was not old enough to have enough experiences to possibly have an open mind. However, after this experience I now that my once-preceptions were instilled upon me by my culture and, I believe that my reactions to women would be different if these rules in my culture were percieved different.

Asker, if u are female then I would say, ultimately, YES...and no. Audaciously so, it is even illegal to breast feed in public in some cities which I find ridiculous and unnatural but as much as I'd like to scream "DISCRIMINATION" I cannot because the laws aren't in place to hold women down they are birthed out of "decency" statutes that, frankly, are in play because "those w/the sexual preference of women" cannot seem to keep it in check at the sight of our nude flesh, most of the time....nothing is written in stone w/humans of course and I am not trying to generalize BUT our bodies are made with a slick, curve and a come hither bend that catches eyes...i imagine 'decency statutes' are actually about the way the looker feels at the time the shower is exposed, eh? Where I live (San Francisco, CA.) the female cycle club, "Dykes on Bikes", just got a law passed that allows them to ride their motorcycles "topless" during parades, so if you still feel it is discriminatory-at least that is a start.
ANd if this asker is male, I would say, .... I wonder why YOU are so worried about this particular issue. Certainly, you would NOT just want to see more breasts cuz that would make you a sexist and sexists are in fact one of the cornerstones of historical discrimination against women and you'd never be a part of such a group now would you ? Good! Keep fighting the good fight, sweetheart cuz we've come a long way, baby.

No I don't think it is because they would be the first group that complained that men started at them inappropriately. They want everything but then complain when they get it.

Hmmmmmmmm I have often thought that myself but it seems that if we females went shirtless less work would get done.
