We have an artificial tree, and we may have started a new tradition last year. My husband was angry with me, so he stuffed the whole thing, fully decorated into it's box in the closet. It took me a few days to see what he had done and I was furious. It is still in the closet as I post this, and I have a feeling there won't need to be any take down because there won't be any put up!!!! I do forgive him now, but it took a while.. Merry Christmas to you all.

We used to, it would be in the evening after supper, two days after New Years, we'd get out the boxes for all the ornaments and each person was to fill a box with one color one size balls. They all got any dust wiped off and tucked away, then any special ornaments were placed in their boxes. It was the smaller kids job to take off all the tensil and get it in a trash bag. Then we would take off the lights, cleaning them and checking if there were any burnt out bulbs, if so they were replaced before they got packed. While we were doing that my grandmother who lived with us had a note book and we would each tell something that was special for us that year. We would drag the tree out and vacuum, then have these huge bowls of popcorn and ice cold root beers. Some one would pick a game they got and we would all play until bed time.
Sadly we lost the notebook in a move. We would always read some of them as we put the tree up.
Well anyway hope yours is Merry and Happy New Year too.

we take ours down 12 days after Christmas, as in 12 days in 12 days out. We all pitch in the house always seems so naked once all the decorations have been taken down and put up in the attic for another year.

When my family and I got a real tree we always took it down on New Year's Eve, since we got an artificial one three years ago we just took it down after Christmas and before New Year's Eve.

It must come down before the new year. You should not have 2 trees in one year. Why? I don't know. Its just the way weve always done it.

Usually on Jan 1st we take down our decorations and tree. We label each strand of lights when we pack them away so we know next year where each strand goes.

No tradition but it must stay up until January 6th. But when it's time to take it down it seems everyone has something else very important to do. I usually take it down myself! *sigh*
