I'm glad some are in favor of working together, but i'm not sure ethanol is the solution.

Added. I'm not trying to be negative, just realistic. There are better choices with less impact on enviroment.

I think it's good, but "the bill also requires a six-fold increase in ethanol " shows their reason for supporting it. Money for large agra business. When the parties work together it's rarely for the American people.

By 2022 the world will be out of oil.

Yeah, they could try a little harder. Foreign auto manufacturers are keeping pace and doing quite well in the face of tougher fuel economy restrictions. It's just smart with oil being such a flimsy, dangerous and expensive commodity. It is a good start, and especially under a Republican's watch.

Its a start. The original also took away oil company tax breaks to be applied to alternative energy research. Still it is progress.

You are right it is not enough. We can get even dumber if we try. The issue with foreign oil is not as big as we allow the the TV talking heads to make us believe. If we could get tree huggers to allow us to drill and refine our off shore oil we would be far less dependent on foreign oil and the price would come down.

Also the ethanol fuel does not burn clean enough to make up for the additional emissions created in producing it.

By the time that goes into affect, the world will be out of oil so Bush wouldn't be getting any more checks from the oil companies any way.
