Oh please, come on. Now don't play the good samaritan here. Of course, you want me to say that Christmas is all giving and being nice and goodhearted and so on. But, be honest, most of us see it as an opportunity to get the latest mobile for free.
And not only I hate those days when there's nothing to do for ages, you can't browse through any decent shops (except 24hour gas stations, but they're irrelevant here), and you get into rows with your family because you are forced to stay with them for three consecutive days - and still pretend you are merry.
