I broke my hip about 2 weeks ago, and I had to get pins in it, as well as some stitches. They put the stitches in while they put the pins in, so I was asleep and didn't feel them...but I'm really nervous about getting them out. When I was 4 years old, I had some stitches taken out, and all I can remember is a little pinch...but I'm not sure if I remembered correctly, or if this time will be different...

So do you think it hurts?

Thank you!

You broke your hip and you're worried about the pain of stiches?

Will likely feel some discomfort but should not compare to the feeling of breaking your hip.

Having been through this, I understand :) I have had numerous surgeries and I usually get more worked up about the needles at the surgery and getting stiches out :) You are correct about the pinch. There's no real pain to it. If you're worried, you can tell them and they can usually soften any scabs over the stiches to make it as painfree as possible :) Best of luck....

Not a big deal at all! You may feel a poke or pinch when they snip the stitch, the a tugging and tingling while they pull it through. Won't even be enough to stop conversation.

I just got stitches out last year. It didn't hurt at all. If you are concerned ask your doctor if he could numb the area before so you wont feel anything

I don't think, I know - and it doesn't hurt. The Doctors will apply a general anesthetic to the region, so that you won't be able to feel the stitches at all. If in doubt, ask at the Doctors - they'll be able to subside your concerns.

When I got stiches they used ones that would naturly dissolve later on, that was 6 years ago so maybe they used them on you.
