I'll be 33 weeks pregnant tomorrow with my first baby and nothing has come out of my breast yet. I know it could very well happen after delivery but has anyone leaked before then with their first child? Thanks!

P.S. I really want to breastfeed and I'm scared I won't be able to, for no particular reason though.

With my first & only, I leaked somewhere around my 30th week. I called my OBGYN & told the women who answered my "problem". She said, "Oh my, that's not good. You're at work? You better get home now just in case the doctor wants to see you."
Damn lady had me freaking out thinking that something was wrong!! Then I found out that it's just as common for them to leak as it is for them to not leak.
I'm sure whether you leak before delivering or not is no indication on whether you'll be able to breastfeed. I've learned there's a very small percentage of birth mothers that "can't" breastfeed.
Congrats on your pregnancy!!

Being at 38 weeks means that you could start contracting soon. But I'm guessing that your milk leaking was a response to something in your environment. An older child crying perhaps.

Hey I'm now 3 days overdue with my first baby. I had leaking when I was about 28 weeks pregnant and get it every now and then. Usually I don't notice it until I wake up. I wouldn't stress as milk doesn't usually come in until 3 days after your baby comes. 97% of people are able to breastfeed. So I'm sure you will be fine!! Good luck :)

I started to leak at about 20 weeks with my daughter. Although, once I had her it took 4 days for my milk to come in and I breastfed fine. Every woman's body is different - don't worry - my doctor told me that some women can leak as late as the 7th month and everything is fine. You can get pleny of help and support for breastfeeding your baby - just ask your doctor, midwife, or local hospital. Stay positive - don't stress.

I didn't leak at all until I was breastfeeding about 2-3 weeks. No leakage before birth. Relax and don't worry. It takes about 3-5 days before your milk really starts coming in. I breastfed my daughter for 15 months and I'm pregnant with #2 (22 weeks - no leaks) and I plan on breastfeeding again. Good luck!

Mine don't leak, but I can express a couple of drops of pre-milk with my hand.

Don't worry about not "leaking" it's normal to not leak, and normal to leak.

Every woman's body is different!

Good luck!

I didn't leak at all during my pregnancy. My baby is 2 weeks old, and every time he cries, or my older son (4) cries, I leak BAAADDD!!

Mine never leaked while i was pregnant. My milk didn't even come in after my c-section until 5 days later. But my son never had anything except breastmilk. They tried to scare me in th hospital, but i knew that colostrum was the only thing he needed until the milk came in.

Arm yourself with knowledge and don't accept failure!
