Go to Census.gov
- Look under "Economic Census"
- Check out "Industry Series" which will give data by Industry type.
- Look under sector type "Accommodation and Food Services " which is NAICS code 72
- You'll see report title "Food Services and Drinking Places " EC02-72I-02 --- click on the PDF's for data (I've give the links below)

I would assume that Fast Food restaurants would fall under this catagory:
7222 LIMITED-SERVICE EATING PLACES
This industry group comprises establishments primarily engaged in providing food services where
patrons generally order or select items and pay before eating. Most establishments do not have
waiter/waitress service, but some provide limited service, such as cooking to order (i.e., per special
request), bringing food to seated customers, or providing off-site delivery. (page 30)

I haven't a clue, that's like asking how many grains of sand in a 5 gallon bucket. Wish I could help, I already tried to guess about the sand and I only had to come close - well I was about as close as the earth is to alpha-centaury. But I don't think the person asking the question knew either.

Mcd owns appoxmately 270 in arizona so competores have to same burger king and Wendys i know theres alot of Jack inthe Boxs too!

i really don't think you can you may be able to find out how many mcdonalds there are or how many burgerkings wendy's ect. and add them but some people open there own fast foods that you prob. couldn't count. so you caould try it, good luck. sorry i couldn't help much.
