***besides pencils, markers, crayons, glue (the kids all buy these themselves)
I was thinking about stuff like stickers, ....???? I'm not sure what else. I'm looking to make a little gift basket of things she could use in her classroom.

Great Question! This idea is better than any apple mug! I teach k-5... and the things I have to buy the most are...

* Pencils, gluesticks (they disappear, run out faster than families think)
* stickers
* dry erase makers (if they have a white board in their room)
* Sharpies
* Kleenex
* small ziploc bags
* hand sanitizer
* "prizes" for bingo and/or other games (i.e. small erasers)

I know these seem very "practical" and not fun... but that's where I spend a lot of money.

I'm sure she'll love it.

Stickers and stamps
Kids music CDs
Board games and toys
A bell
Reading books
Books of worksheets (make sure they're the ones that allow copying for educational purposes)
Some charts or posters for the walls

Actually, when you think about it, most of the stuff your teachers have/had in the classroom was bought out of their own pockets. The only things the school I work for provides are the desks and stationery.

I would get coloring books and let the students pick theirs, maybe some reading material, puzzles... I am going to school to be a 1st grade teacher. So excited to start but it takes forever just to get an associates
