I'm trying to get my Dad a special DVD Christmas gift, and I thought I'd try to find a movie, which he has been looking for, for a long, long time; he doesn't remember the title, but I think that he said that Marilyn Monroe was in it. The story of the film had something to do with an Englishman, who travels to America, and the Wild West, at the turn of the century, with the intention to sell guns...

...I don't know a lot about westerns, and I'm not sure that Marilyn Monroe actually made any of those (...doesn't seem like her type of film); can anyone help out, here???

...I think that the film, which you might be looking for, is the rollacking 1958 western comedy, "The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw"; however, that movie starred Jayne Mansfield, not Marilyn Monroe. In the film, a clumsy, determined and naive inventor & gun saleman, DOES travel to the American Wild West, and gets a real good dose of culture shock, when he gets there; Jayne Mansfield plays a beautiful and seasoned, sharp-shooting saloon owner, who takes him under her wing, teaches him more than a few things about the West, and ultimately falls in love with him...

...check it out, here!!!

The movie studios held a contest between each and every of the western stars to locate the quickest gun and the winner replaced into Peter Brown from Lawman and Laredo television sequence. As for the movie characters it must be a tie between John Wayne and James Stewart.

"River of No Return" - 1954 - Robert Mitchum, Marilyn Monroe, Rory Calhoun

or "The Misfits" - last film for Monroe and Clark Gable
