So many people are dogging Mourning. Keep in mind that he was the face of the franchises in Charlotte (1992-1995) and Miami (1995-2002). Going to the playoffs in each of those seasons. In 1997-1998, Miami was eliminated by the eventual champion Chicago Bulls.

He should be comended for coming back after his battle with kidney disease, and still battles it to this day. So saying that people feel sorry for him is irresponsible. Before this affliction, Mourning was considered as the best center in the league not named Shaq or Olajuwon. And even opposing players are still aware of his presense due to the fact that he still is one of the premier defensive big men in the game today.

Wade and Shaq get all the press for their championship, but it was Mourning who headed the Heat defense to assist them to win that championship. He averaged almost 3 blocks a game (2.7) during that season. Malone's defense was average at best.

Malone has had the more storied career by becoming the league's 2nd all time leading scorer, and I'm sure he would turn all that in for a ring, but for my money I would take Mourning because he plays and has played with an intensity and passion that I have never seen in any big man.

I think every NBA player has a dream to win an NBA championship. Alonzo Mourning won it with the Miami Heat in 2006 but Karl Malone never did. So career wise, I think Mourning had a better NBA career but if I had to pick on draft night, I would pick Malone any day over Mourning

I'm gonna go against the majority here and say Alonzo Mourning. Sure, Karl Malone had all the great achievement awards and record book statistics but people are forgetting that the Mailman played alongside one of the best distributing point guard in NBA history. He also played under a very well-orchaestrated system devised by Jerry Sloan. Zo didn't have that luxury. Tim Hardaway and Mugsy Bogues were great individual point guards but they had no where near the playmaking ability of Stockton. Alonzo played with a lot of heart and in his prime, he was going toe-to-toe with Shaq while holding his own. I don't think may big men nowadays (or back then) can lay out such a claim. In order to succeed in the NBA, not only do you have to have talent but sometimes you just need to be in the right situation.

Can you imagine if we were to swap Tim Duncan and Alonzo Mourning's place in history. We might be sitting here and talking about Mourning as the best power forward ever. Would Tim Duncan be able to hold his own against a raging bull-Shaq in his prime? I think not. I'm not taking anything away from the Mailman but I think his numbers were inflated playing alongside Stockton and their often played out pick-n-roll strategy. Mourning fought a life-threatening kidney disorder in order to come back and play. I don't think many players would ever recover from that. So if I had to take a player on draft night, I would go with Mourning because he may have the body of a power forward but he plays like a true center and true centers are usually the first to go in any draft.

Are you serious dude? D-Wade had almost everything to do with that championship the Heat won! If Malone was there he would have beaten the pants off of Dirk despite his age. Malone had an incredible career and was one of the best NBA players ever by far. Barkley did not win a championship either. Many of the best don't and I would not be entirely surprised if Lebron James does not but I hope he gets traded and does. Learn the facts about basketball!

Karl MAlone wins this, no doubt. KArl malone was one of the best big men of all time. The only downside to his career was that he never won a championship because someone called michael came along. still the mailman delivered

best; little doubt Malone replaced into extra perfect than martin. yeah Kenyon helped the NEts to diminish back to diminish back convention finals, yet Malone replaced into plenty extra perfect as a participant. Allen Iverson or Jason Kidd?-This one is complicated, as a results of fact the two gamers play different roles. If I had to choose, i might take iverson inspite of the undeniable fact that. Gary Payton or Allen Iverson?-Iverson hands down Paul Pierce or T-Mac?-tracy placed up extra perfect numbers. whether lots of pierce's numbers have been flattened as a results of fact Antoine Walker took 0.5 the spotlight Brad Miller or Pau Gasol?-Gasol. Alonzo Mourning or Marcus Camby?-Mourning T.J Ford or Derek Fisher?-TJ Ford Latrell Sprewell or Mike Redd?-Redd

depends on if you're talking about better in terms of rings or stats. some players play basketball only to compete for a ring, and if they don't win it, they feel that all time was wasted. Zo has the ring, Karl has the numbers. Karl joined the Lakers for an embarrassing end to a great career, but Zo right now (in his last year) looks better than usual compared to the center he subs for each night....

I usually go to Zo due to my personal admiration on him. He is a warrior who fights till the last second. His offensive is solid yet not advanced but his defensive dominance is unquestionable, and his comparison with Bill Russell remains valid even at present.

Mailman was not being regarded as a future Hall of Famer early in his career, but his game polished well as time went by. He is an underrated passer and his court vision has seldom been applauded. It is a pity that he can't get a ring.

Yet something for sure is that everyone definitely enjoys the luxury to have both on the same team.

Malone by far. Mourning was a good shot blocker and rebounder, and played good defense, but he tended to disappear on the offensive end. Malone had the whole package.

It's not even a contest...Karl Malone is one of the greatest big men of all time. The Mailman hands down.
