Umm... let's see, Darks, dirty darks (my husband is a carpenter), lights (he doesn't wear pastels), whites (all the socks and white T's), rags (I have a cleaning service), sheets and comforter, and rugs. Then once a month or so the doggie blankets. Oh yeah, and the "ahem" unmentionables which are hand washed....

I did not know laundry had any category other then clean and dirty. I wait till the clothes are standing up all by themselves in the corner before they go into the wash. Saves on wear and tear.

If it's wash and wear...everything goes in...provided certain colors don't 'bleed'...then I do those by themselves.
If I'm bored to the point of counting toothpicks in the package they came in...I'll EVEN separate the whites from colors....boredom is the overiding factor here....!
And, I've never had any problems...not even when my orange blouse had streaks of green....just washed it four times...how easy can it GET!!!!!!

Hehee...I just separate into 3 primary categories:
-Darks (anything that could "bleed" color in the wash)
-Whites (everything that can be bleached)
-Colors (everything else)
