I was just taking a look at the NFS pro street readme and it said that the minimum CPU requirement is a pentium 4 at 2.8ghz. I have a quad core at 2.4ghz with SLI 8500 gt's and 2gb ram, and it is lagging. Could this be a driver issue? What else could be wrong?

no diss to grey but the 8500's are fine they run on the new format of the GT's. the best nividia you can get is the 8800GT, they outpreform the ultras if you overclock them like the ultras are :) my guess would be to many background things going, run a few spybot programs and see what turns up

Well it really should not be lagging except maybe a little on ultra high settings or whatever.

If your CPU is AMD however I've noticed an issue with some processors where a lot of games have trouble with multiple core cpus.

Hit Ctrl-alt-del to open task manager while your game is running. Goto the processes tab and right click on speed.exe or whatever the game executable is and select the set affinity option.

Uncheck all but 1 of them and then see if that solves the lag issue. If it does you have that issue I was talking about.

Hi. You have a great system, so if it is lagging you may have too many processes running in the background. Stop what you can to see if the FPS improves. Good luck!

Try getting the newest drivers, I have a single 7600 gs with 256Mb ram on it and I run it with low detail but still fine for me. I would try the drivers first.

Pentium 4 at 2.8 ghz is slower than ONE SINGLE CORE of the four you have even if that core is runing at 2ghz ...The problem is the graphic card ... 8500GT is pretty weak and the SLI configuration doesn't help very much ...

i really dont think so......a quad core is like merging 4 cpus and if you have 2gb ram minimum your system will have rocket speed
