One of my kids bikes had this problem & it took me about a month to sort it. (Being an engineer, thats a little embarassing) What had happened was that the forks had bottomed out and bent the spark plug about 3mm out of line. It would run fine on tickover, but as soon as you revved it up it just died. Pull the starter 10 seconds later and it seemed there was no problem.
The heat given off the engine was causing the unseen broken plug core to seperate and then re-join as it cooled.
Dont ignore the other advice given. But it only takes 30 seconds to check & change a spark plug.
If your totally stuck, mail me & I,ll try to help as best I can.

Just had a similar prob. A piece of the clutch had broken off, this jams up the back wheels so when you use the throttle the front sprocket cant turn and so stalls the engine. Complete clutch cost £15 inc vat and delivery from funbikes.co.uk

Blocked main jet in carb or leaking crank seals. The carb is easy, the seals not so easy depending on make and model.

fuel or choke.
if it doesn't start straight away again its fuel delivery ie fuel tap is off or fuel filter is blocked.
if it runs but as you start to move off it doesn't have any power and sounds rough and cuts out but starts straight away again. then check the choke.
if neither work you've probably done the piston rings in.
