I am scared that I could be pregnant. If I am pregnant, I would be very happy, but I am still on birth control. Even though I'm on birth control, would I still miss a period? I guess I just don't know for sure if I would know that I am pregnant. I don't want to take birth control if I'm pregnant, but I don't want to stop taking it if I am not pregnant.
Any help?

I agree with Max - wait until your period is normall due and take a test. Good luck.

Your body will stop menstrating if you are pregnant, even if you are using the pill, so don't be afraid of using birth control. It's possible to have other complications that might keep you bleeding, but generally once you are pregnant the bleeding stops. The pill won't keep you menstrating.

Even if you get pregnant while using the pill (which is very unlikely) the pill will probably not hurt the baby. It's only after extended use that the pill might cause some harm. My sister-in-law accidently got pregnant while on birth control, and she was still taking the pill weeks after she conceived. Her doctor told her not to worry. She ended up giving birth to a healthy, problem-free baby boy.

If you really think that you might be pregnant -- and you're still having your period-- then I suggest going to Walmart and buying a pregnancy test. They aren't very expensive, and sometimes peace of mind is the best solution. They usually give accurate results, but not always. If you are not convinced with the results than go and see a doctor.

Pregnancy while on birth control is very rare. It only happens in 1-2 of every 100 women. You would not miss your period while on birth control though. The bleeding you experience on birth control is not actually your period, persay, but withdrawal bleeding. You'll still have that. The only way to know for sure is finish your pill pack and take a test before starting a new one. That will ease your mind. Good luck!

Yes, you can still have a period if you're pregnant and on birth control pills. Take a pregnancy test soon.

I had a friend that had a really late period due to her missing 3 days of pills and then taking 3 the next day to catch up. I dont think birth control will complicate pregnancy if the deed is already done, just get off of it if you do find you are prego.

You should contact your doctor right away to take a pregnancy test.. It doesn't hurt and only takes a few minutes... Then if you are pregnant you can safetly STOP taking birth control pills and if you aren't you can keep taking your BC pills... It's better to be safe than sorry..

good luck

For now, I would stop taking it and go to the doctor. Just don’t have sex until you go to see the doctor and ask for their advice. They might want you to go see a GYN instead. Remember, birth control is not 100% protection, so it IS possible that you are pregnant. Take it easy and good luck!

Lots of women take BC until they find out that they are pregnant with no complications. I did. I had been on BC for a year, never missed a dose or took one late and I got pregnant. It was very unexpected but my husband and I are both super excited and anxiously awaiting our new little addition!

Take a pregnancy test- then you'll know whether or not your pregnant- which will help you decide whether or not to take your birth control.

ummm....take a test?? Stop taking BC and wait until you miss a period to test. WOW....one to two weeks max of no sex or protected sex. If you are pregnant & take birth control it could cause miscarriage or complications.

Use your head!
