Fess up--Have you ever parked in the handicapped spot because you were just running in the store real quick?

Wow, okay. In no way was this question asked in an attempt to dehumanize the people in this world that do deserve those spots. I did not ask this question to receive sermons, Everyone is entitled to their opinion, which I respect, but please do not turn this into more than what it is--which is JUST a question.

YES! It is worth appealing. It costs you nothing to appeal, and even if you lose the appeal, you're simply re-set to the beginning of the process. The only cost you have to pay is postage of your letter to the parking appeals address. Go onto the council (that issued the ticket) website and get the address. They have different addresses depending on what type of ticket - so look up where to send the letter. Also read any info on there, make sure you know exactly why you got the ticket - was it for being in the bus lane? Then, they usually ask you to write a letter stating why the ticket was wrong. Do that! State you were not obstructing the bus lane, merely at the end of it. IF you fail in your appeal, you simply have to pay the fine. I've never got one for a bus lane before by when the husband has got a parking ticket, you get 2 weeks to pay at half the price, then 2 at full price, then it goes up etc. So if you appeal (and they receive the letter *CRUCIAL* so send it recorded delivery) within the first 2 weeks, and the appeal isn't accepted, you simply go back to having to pay half the fine again. (You go back to where ever you where when the appeal was received) The appeal put everything on hold, so you might as well try. Be polite, concise and maybe pray to St. Anthony. (Patron St. of lost causes!) Edit: If you appeal (first time) you are not going to court, so there are no court fees to pay. You're simply writing a letter to the people who issued the ticket telling them the reasons it is wrong. If you were say, in the bus lane, they usually write back saying "you were clearly photographed in the bus lane, blah blah" and send a pic of that. Then you know you can't get out of it, and pay. Like I said, apart from the postage cost, and the palaver of writing the letter, you have nothing to lose in trying.

My husband is handicapped with a broken back so I get very offended when people do that when they don't even have a handicapped person that requires it. Even though we have a card I still try to park 2 or 3 spaces from it, because we are very luck he is mobile. There are people alot worse off than us and people need to start to understand that about other people as well. Someone else out there...Always has it worse than you and being kind to others and not being selfish is a good start.

I have accidentaly, some of the convenience stores don't repaint their parking lots when they should and I didn't see the markings. My mom had a friend who had a handicap sticker just because she was really obese...I thought that was pretty sad.

No. I park in the "No parking" zone rather than the handicapped spots. What really pisses me off are the people who park between the handicapped spaces, even when there's an obviously wheelchair-equipped van parked so they can use the space.

I love you, Erica, that is, your questions.

Yeah, I parked in one yesterday and, snce I'm a real actor, I hobbled to the store as if I were handicapped.

Now before you zealots get your panties/briefs in a wad, my sister was born handicapped, so spare the sermons.

Lastly, if you're so set on preaching on this small issue, what about the enemy who is maiming our guys/gals?

No I never have and I never will. I had a handicapped friend and if you had to see what they had to go through, you wouldn't either. As a security officer, I always loved issuing tickets and contacting the police whenever I caught someone doing this too.

No. I hate when people do that. It just screams "I AM MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU! MY FEW SECONDS (which will turn into minutes) IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY OF YOU. I AM SO WONDERFUL THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WALK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE"

To whomever gave me thumbs down- Giving me a thumb down only proves that I am right. The idea that you are rude for parking in a handicapped never even entered your mind. That same attitude is what made you park there in the first place.

I almost did once. I was going to a meeting driving around a parking lot and that's all I could find. I had my fathers' car (mine was having trouble) and he's got an HP plate.
