I took apart my 360 because it wouldn't read any disc whatsoever and plus it was out of warrenty. So I thought I'd clean the eyepeice. Once I had the DVD drive out I cleaned the eye, put the drive back together, then put a game in. Once the disc started spinning it made a loud noise. Turns out when the eyepeice raises up to read the disc its raisng up too high and hitting the bottom of the disc. Is the there anyway to fix this?

Your 360 couldn't have been out of warranty because all 360s now come with a 3 year warranty - and the 360 is only 2 years old!

There's a reason why you aren't supposed to open these things, and you've just discovered it.

While there are some websites that may claim they will fix your 360 no matter what, you're probably better off just buying a new 360.

but the eyepeice back into its proper place.

if this doesn't work, xbox repair center will not even touch your xbox. and you wont find this out untill after you have payed them the shipping, and handling fee's.

sorry man, but you are going to have to buy a new xbox, i recommend getting the a new xbox 360, that has the hdmi, Im not talking about the elite,...it comes in the standard and premium flavors, and will say hdmi on the back of the box if it has it.

rd. 1109's answer is just not true. MS would be stupid to offer free repairs on any xbox. They extended the warranty on 360s to 3 years for ONLY the red rings of death issue. Any other problems are still only covered under the 1 year warranty.

You should not have taken it out. Big mistake. Find somebody that knows what they are doing.

Yes, throw it out and buy a new one. And next time there's a problem take it to someone who know's how to fix them.
Sorry, but you asked.
