Oh yeah, I live over an hour away from any small towns, so the volunteering thing might not work.
I guess for me to ask this question certainly seems like self pity.
So to forget about it seems best so far. And never ask stupid personal questions, for no one deserves to feel alone or they should be jailed as a pitier.
Then There is no reason to join the band wagon of Christmas Chear, or care at all about never having experienced a family type holiday, boo, hoo, what a total selfish pitier I must be.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theories
Assumptions to form a theory,
An assumption according to Asimov is "something accepted without proof, and it is incorrect to speak of an assumption as either true or false, since there is no way of proving it to be either (If there were, it would no longer be an assumption). It is better to consider assumptions as either useful or useless, depending on whether deductions made from them corresponded to reality.... On the other hand, it seems obvious that assumptions are the weak points in any argument, as they have to be accepted on faith in a philosophy of science that prides itself on its rationalism. Since we must start somewhere, we must have assumptions, but at least let us have as few assumptions as possible."

I've been in your shoes, and it can really suck if you let it. Spend some time maybe calling your family, they can make you feel closer to home....cook yourself a nice dinner, have a movie marathon at the theater or rent and watch at home. Do something you enjoy so you don't think of being alone as being such a bad thing.

See if you can do something worthwhile during the day like volunteer at a shelter and then that evening take a bubble bath, order a pizza and curl up with a good movie. Then you can get up early and hit the clearance sales the next day! Nothing like bargains to make you feel better.

Volunteer your time at a veterans hospital, a local church kitchen or homeless shelter. Nothing like helping people with far greater crosses to bear than you to help you stop feeling sorry for yourself. After all, appreciating what you have rather than lamenting what you do not have is the key to happiness.
Merry Christmas!

Help out in the homeless shelter soup kitchen serving people... it is always uplifting to do this around the holidays! When I lived in SF, we used to go to the local animal shelter to take pets to visit the elderly in a nearby nursing home. This was also really rewarding! Best Wishes!

*shrug* I would treat it as an indulgence day.
You know, sleep in, make your favorite food, take a long bubble bath, buy or rent a few movies to watch, go for a walk in the park, etc.

Ok, if you are religious try making it to Church for Christmas service and music, and if you are not, I would definitely just chill and watch a comedy.
