Since $5.50 is far below the minimum wage of today, I can only surmise that this is a question from your homework or a test from school! I suggest that you do your own homework and tests and stop trying to cheat on ya! You are never ever going to learn anything doing this, and will never be capable of supporting yourself, in the future. In addition you will never be able to pass any entrance exam for any higher educational institute, because you have cheated throughout your short high school life!

Hi there!

If you worked a standard 40 hour week at $5.50 an hour, you'd make $220.00 a week before taxes were taken out. This would equate to $11,440.00 a year before taxes.

Hope this helps!! :)

It depends on how much will be withheld from your check for taxes, insurance, disability, and other things. also how many hours you will be working. to estimate how much your check will be for BEFORE any withholding is taken out, multiply the amount of hours you will be working by 5.50.
EX: 40 hrs/wk
40 x 5.50 = $220

220 per week minus TAX and Social Security. Depending on where you live this is almost enough to support yourself living out of a cardboard box on the street. NY minimum wage is $7.25

Assuming you work 40 hours, multiply 40 times 5.50. And do it yourself--dont be lazy

5.50 X number of hours worked minus 25% withholding taxes would get you fairly close

Well you would multiply the # of hours worked by the wage. So if full time

40 hours x $5.50 - $220.00

you multiply $5.50 x 8 hrs/day
$44 x 5 dys/wk
you make $220 /wk before tax
and $880.00/month before tax

Slightly more than half of what I do now...

And assuming you can't multiply 5.5 by 40... I am NOT going to give you the answer. (40 hours being full time.)

Incidentally...to approximate taxes and funstuff like that, deduct 25% from your estimate.
