Try phoning the cats protection league, there number should be in the phone book and they usually collect withing one or two days.

She's been pregnant all this time, and only now when the baby is due does she bother to find homes for her cats?
What a very selfish woman.
Try Cats Protection League, but I hope she decides to keep them after all.
edit:
OMG 7 cats in a 1 bedroom flat. They're certainly better off elsewhere

Why does she need to find a home for her cats? Just because she is pregnant doesn't mean she has to get rid of them! How absurd! I am 26 wks prg and have 6 cats. Tell her she won't get sick with having cats while pregnant. Obviously it sounds like she never wanted them to begin with which is really sucky. An old APL will just kill them. She can keep them. And if she is the one doing the boxes, tell her to wear gloves and a dust mask and she will be fine. That's a load of crap that she has to get rid of them. I've done the glove & mask thing and have been fine. There are non-kill shelters in some areas. Don't let her take them to the APL. It's bad for them. Why don't you take them if she absolutely has to find them new homes?

I hope she keeps them.

She should have thought abt. having cats as pets if she can't really take care of them. How'd she end up with 7? Were they strays? 4 of our 6 are strays. Does she treat them well? Feed them and play with them a lot? If she's always yelling at them then of course they'll be mean. If they come from abused homes they might be mean too but cats can come around.

I hope she doesn't take them to the APL to have them killed. I seriously hope not.

honey, listen here. craigslist saves us all. when we had to move to a new condo where no dogs are allowed we went straight to craigslist.com and found her a loving home. She's soo happy now and we still keep in touch. And the best thing is that you dont have to worry who the cat goes to because craigslist is very predictable!

Good Luck!

Poor cats. Why does she want to get rid of them? Just because you are having a baby doesn't mean you can't have cats. That is just plain mean.
Also, my daughter is 24w2d and we have 8 cats and the baby will be brought home with all of them. NO HARM.

Yeah, cat's aren't monsters. Do proper research on how to deal with having a cat and a baby, and i guarantee everything will work out fine.

dont give away the cat just yet.

Why is she looking for a home now? Cats are fine around babies. Is there a reason (aggression, disease, etc.) that she doesn't want the cats around the baby? It can be difficult to place cats....I know because I had to do it when I moved.

However pregnant women should never go near the litter box. Cats' feces can carry toxoplasmosis, a parasite that can be dangerous to unborn babies.

That's sad. There's not a guaranteed "fast" way to get rid of them, without sacrificing their futures. Shelters are all full, especially right now. If she knew she was going to have to find new homes for them when baby came, then she should have been working on it since day one.

People who can just give up thier pets like that are terrible. Your friend shouldn't be able to have kids. She'll probably use the TV as a babysitter and feed them fast food every night too. Gross.

Why does she feel the need to get rid of her cats? I had 3 cats and a dog when my daughter was born. We all co-existed just fine.
