Yes, but only if all things are working properly. If it looks like it never gets service, then you must use common sense.

a gas explosion would destroy much of the building anyway, as well as chunks of the surrounding ones.
check out the pics of gas explosion accidents.
a whole room is turned into a bomb, the result is really big.
no glass windows left standing hundreds of yards around around lol

I would say that depends on how much the land lord is concerned with safety and maintenance of his property.

sure just if you smell gas get out fast! It should be fine though.
