Just so you know, one usually denotes the "to the power of" with the symbol ^.. so the question is:

(2y)(4xy^3) if I'm not mistaken...

In this case, you are comparing apples and apples (common factors) so you would simply multiply them as follows:

The constants get multiplied together: 2 * 4. That becomes 8.

Nothing happens to the x.

the ys get multiplied together, you get y^4.

So your answer is 8xy^4.
