Maybe its just me, but anything about hurting children really gets me.

A Farewell to Arms by Hemingway. I was totally shocked that she dies in the end, and the way the guy is nonchalant about it was just so unsettling to me.
And when I was younger I thought that Where the Red Fern Grows was the saddest and best book ever. Very sentimental.

I've read so many books, and I just can't think of a "sad" one. Someone mentioned 1984, and while that one is scary and pertinent, I couldn't really call that a sad one. Must be a guy thing?

I know they made a movie out of this also, but the book was extremely sad...The Notebook. How depressing. I just hope i have someone who wants to take care of me like that when I get old! : )
