I'm with you, Judy...It must have to do with being older and knowing the value of being able to rely on others and to be relied on. The interesting thing is that if someone else doesn't follow through after telling me they will, they erode their credibility with me. At a certain point, they have destroyed ALL credibility with me, and I will no longer deal with them. The opposite is true where I am concerned...I want to be credible to others. Simple as that. I am Sirius

I always try to follow through with everything that I say I am going to do, or I don't say I am going to do it in the first place. I really think it through because I know what it feels like when someone does not pull through with something they say they are going to do when it has to do with me. It really sucks to be let down... =( So I do always follow through unless some freak accident happens... I have learned from my mistakes....

Everyone falls short of perfection, but I try to keep it to a minimum. 95% of the time I follow through.

If I make a promise, I do everything in my power to fulfill it, or I have a jolly good reason why I can't.
Sometimes, though, I might say something like "I'm going shopping tonight", but when tonight rolls around I'm just not motivated to do it.

Never, I always have to. You can't forget with a 1 year old child and a husband that works 6 days a week.

Every time. Sometimes I just take a little longer to complete the task than others.
My advice: give a specific timeline for each task. Be patient.

It's the complete opposite with me and my mom.
My mom always tells me she's going to come and see my new apartment. I've had it for 5 months and she hasn't come once even though she's told me she would. Whenever I say I'm going to come and see her, I always show up.
That's just the way people are I guess..

I try to keep my word to everyone especially my son... if I can't keep my word than he won't keep his word to me If I promise my son something then I will bend over backward to do that for him and it might be something simple like buy him an ice cream cone but I will make sure I do that for him that night

It might be delayed sometimes, but I generally tend to do what I say I will.
As for your daughter, kids do that to their parents. I do the same to my mother - anything to make her happy, then I just ignore it.

Daily there is at least one instance, usually more, of not following through. Sigh.
