Hello Peggy:

Does the bottle have any recommendations for removal? Goof off and Goo Gone are lighter fluid. Try this to see if it comes off. Nail polish remover is acetone, it may remove the glue. Some glues become part of the polymer of the polyester material, and can never be removed. Can you cover the glue spot with another patch?

To avoid this in the future, visit http://www.scouting.org/nav/enter.jsp?s=xx&c=ds&terms=uniform+inspection+sheet
and look for the "Cub Scout/WEBELOS" inspection sheet about half way down the page. It is a .pdf document that shows where the patches are placed.

Here's a cheap and easy way to maybe get that glue off! I've tried it many times and it works for gum and many types of glues (but not every single one). Take an ice cube out of the freezer and rub it back and forth against the affected area. When the glue is frozen, scrape it off with a knife. Happy cleaning and good luck.

A product called: 'Goof Off', and it should be available in the craft supplies and/or glue section of hardware.
It is great for removing glue and usually safe on most materials.
