I know that it is snowing there but i have no other time to visit the place other than january(NRI)... Will it be fine or not suitable...plz help me out, i am going to travel with my parents...

I dont see any problems. Though I strongly suggest to plan your travel completely.. like every details.. also if you have to spend little more money then spend for little bit more comfort. I did a mistake when I traveled there couple of years back. for NRIs (specially with Kids and Elederly) its must that they enjoy the journey then having to worry about any troubles.
So pack you luggage carefully, do include basic medicine, and dont over load your luggage with unnecessary stuff.

It should not pose much problems if you take enough precautions.
1. Take lots of woollens alongwith. More the better.
2. Eat piping hot food always.
3. While planning, allow more than usual time for travel. ( you can assume atleast 40% more time than usual.) It's really problematic in winter in these areas.
4. Keep reserve cash. You may require this to meet unforseens ( like additional stay due to travel problems.)
5. Do not venture in wilds.
6. Do not attempt anything much strenuous. It's too tiring in snows and tricky,too.
You can think of alternatives at this point. Why attempt Manali? Upto Shimla, it's much okay. Otherwise you can explore other parts of Himachal. Visit Chamba, Dalhousie. They are equally better and well connected even in winter. In Dalhousie you can enjoy snow better. Lots of snow in the town areas. No need to venture anywhere. And if the weather is not particularly suitable to elders, you can stay in Chamba ( about an hours drive from Dalhousie ) which boasts several beautiful ancient temples etc. And the area is nearer to Pathankot, the nearest railhead.

Shimla and Manali are both good vacations spots.You can visit there in jan. Its the best time for vacations in hill station. Yeah, there is snow but i think your family enjoys more.
