Need to fix a projector screen to our ceiling. It is a false ceiling and there is a large gap between the plasterboard and the floorboards.
Also the rafters which the plasterboard is secured onto are not in the right position for me to fix the screen to! Thanks!

You do not want to be fixing in to the floor boards the best thing to do would be to lift the floor board above and fit a piece of wood between the joists against the ceiling this will provide a better fixing without you risking screw points coming up through your carpet

Why not place some decorative stringers across the joist on the out side of the dry wall? maybe something that wood match the trim around the windows and doors. Or you could just paint it the same color as the ceiling. Then you would have something to secure the screen to.

If your walls are drywall (sheetrock), then you can cut a rectangular hole in the sheetrock large enough to insert a rectangular block of plywood or soft wood, such as pine, through the hole. Attach a drywall screw to the the block(used to hold onto the block while you slip it into the hole), insert the block and turn it at right angle to the way it was inserted. This will place the long ends of the block behind the drywall; drive screws through the sheetrock into the long ends of the block. Remove the holding screw, cut a small piece of sheetrock to patch the hole, screw it to the block. You can now tape, crackfill and sand the patch; once this is finished, you now have a solid surface in the wooden block backer on which to fasten your towel rack

Try looking for " Timberlock " screws, they are made for assembling log cabins and come in a variety of lengths from 4" to 12"

The closest thing to that is to use windows fixings. Fischer do them at this length, ask in any decent builders merchants. Make sure they are window fixings, you will get the screws and plugs together, hope this helps.

YOU DONT WANT TO BE FIXING ANYTHING THROUGH FLOORBOARDS ABOVE.
SCREW A PIECE OF WOOD TO CEILING JOISTS FROM BELOW USING NORMAL WOODSCREWS THEN FIX YOUR PROJECTOR TO THAT.
YOUR CEILING VOID HAS PIPES,CABLES AND OTHER SERVICES RUNNING THROUGH IT SO TAKE CARE,
