we intend to listen to sad music, shouldn't we listen to happy music to lift our spirits...

I guess we listen to music that reflects our state of mind at the time.The logic would be that since our brain is not in conflict with it ,it calms us down?
I f I had to listen to joy-full music when pissed i would probably throw the radio out the window..

My sad music lifts my spirits. It makes me realize that I'm not as sad as I think I am.

I know what you mean and I've tried it before but it just annoyed me. I truly believe that it is sometimes ok to just be sad.
When I'm sad and I listen to happy music, it just gets on my nerves.

the fact is like this: why v feel sad whenever situation changes frm expectations and v can't change our thoughts so by listening sad music infact v try 2 change our mood 2 sad mood and then both the incident and our thoughts r in same plane then v can take ourself out of the situation. i think u undrstand.

It seems to me that whatever you listen to when you are sad will sound sad even if it is upbeat. I have found that there is only one artist that I can listen to that will always bring me out of a sad mood and that is Frank Zappa.

A good cry always does us good. I know when I need one I'll find the saddest music, get really into it, start bawling, clean up my face and be done with it.
Everyone needs to remember being sad so we'll be happier more often!!!

we listen to what we are in the mood of..maybe songs that how we are feeling at the moment, helps let us express us more
