I'm going into an interview for a prestigous art high school. 1 question im pretty sure they will ask me is "Why do you want to be a photographer?" I have some idea on what i will say but i need more ideas. One of my ideas is "because I want to be able to capture a moment in someones life"...any other suggestions. also feel free to answer the bush question too.

Bush is, by far, the worst president in the history of the United States. He might even be the worst leader in recorded history. He would certainly compete with Rasputin, Robspeirre, Cardinal Richlieu, etc.

As for your real question, it sounds like you know why you want to be a photographer, you just need some help verbalizing it. Your idea sounds good, just flesh it out a little. Maybe consider a famous photographer whose work you admire and describe the feelings people usually get when they view that person's work. Maybe specify what kind of moment, sad, happy, fearful, etc. Also, explain how you want to make art and not just take pictures at Sears (no offense intended). That would serve to explain why you want to go to an art school. Lastly, just try to relax, interviewers are people just like you and I. They must get tired of interviewing all day, especially if everybody gives the same dry answers. Be yourself, be respectful, be brief and be outta there!

And to all of you who criticized, keep in mind that this person is going into high school, probably 12 or 13 years old. How good were you at that age communicating in public? It is one thing to know why you want to do something and quite another to be able to explain yourself to complete strangers who are judging your response. Kind of scary at that age. Some people don't get any better. So have some heart.

Neither. He has been a good president for the most part. There are a few issues where he has been very liberal, thus abandoning his conservative ideals and the republican party. For example, the soft way he fought the Iraq war until the surge...because of liberal pressure, his authorizing Congress to spend like money is free, his idiotic stance on illegal immigration. These 3 topics he is VERY liberal on...I have wondered why the liberals are so venomous against him when he has stepped into their ideology so well in these areas.

As for your photography, my answer would be simple: God puts so many beautiful moments and beautiful scenes in front of us every day. I want to capture those that I am blessed with and share them.

For those of you claiming that Bush is the worst in history...Sorry but Jimmy Carter has the sole honor of that title...during and after his adnimistration.

Keagan...You really need to look past your talking points:
The absolute worst: here is a list of why
1.Record low unemployment. Record Dow, Record job growth, Record homeownership (and the mortgage tragedy is NOT a tragedy...email my if you want to know why)
2. What Constitutional right have you personally lost? YOU, not your cousin's friend's...YOU?
3. We are a sovereign nation. The very idea that international law comes before our SOVEREIGNTY is a crock. You libs are more than willing to hand over the control of our country to organizations like the UN who pulls the US off of the Human Rights council and puts on Libya. That is psychotic.
4. We are still fighting in Afghanistan
5. This claim has not basis, so is impossible to even respond to.
6. What has Cheney gotten away with? Again no basis.
7. Bush's tax cuts turned a recession he was handed around, and helped EVERYONE. Many tax cuts are for the poor and middle class only, for example: Child tax credit increase, Military Family Tax Relief Act, etc. Also, some of Bush's ideas would have helped the poor and middle class, but dems blocked them (see school vouchers and self-directed Social Security). Why would dems block such legislation? Because as the poor and middle class get more wealth, they tend to vote republican. Dems cannot lose their base.
8. You haven't listed any valid ones yet.

So is this a caption for a moment capture of Bush's life? If so, I'd think that's an interesting (but too controversial for an interview) idea. I think Bush is not representing the people of the US. That makes him a poor representative leader. As far as his scale versus historical perspective... I don't remember reading about anyone who was disliked as a sitting president as much other than Lincoln and that was due to economic reasons and his defense of The Constitution. Bush doesn't seem to hold much stock in The Constitution from what I can tell.

The absolute worst: here is a list of why
1.Ruins the economy
2. Destroys the Constitution
3. Openly and willingly violates international treaties
4. Starts wars without finishing the job( Afghanistan)
5. Believes he is above all law
6. Has a vice-president who is allowed to get away with everything
7. Hurts the middle class while giving huge breaks to the rich.
8. There are far more, but I don't waste the time or energy listing them.

If you can't think of reasons why you want to be a photographer, maybe you really don't want to be one.

I have wanted to be a Meteorologist since I was 9 years old and I could fill a 1000 page book with reasons why.

Because I love photography and I want to be able to make a living doing something I love.

I don't want to be among the 80% of people who go to work at a job they hate everyday. When you love what you do, you don't really ever go to work, you go to play. People who are passionate about their professions do great things -

Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Annie Leibovitz.........

Neither. He's a good President doing the best job for the country. The rest of your question has nothing to do with the first. Perhaps asking this in the photography or career section would be best.
