Yeah, that's why there were STILL Elves all the way up to the 3rd movie because they all died in the 2nd movie.

No, the elves do not die in helm's deep. They also didn't run into the caves (the rohirrim did).
and Jay, you're an idiot. Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin were not elves, they were hobbits, none of them were present for the battle at helm's deep and merry and pippin are NOT twins, they're cousins....kind of.
Merry is a Brandybuck (frodo's cousin on his mother's side and second cousin on his father's side, once removed either way) and Pippin is a Took, also one of Frodo's cousins. Which you would know if you'd picked up the books.

Not all of the elves died, but they didn't run into the cave, either. They continued in battle with the men until the arrival of the Rhohirrim (cavalry to the rescue again!).

Reading the book in this case wouldn't help the poster, since no elves fought at Helm's Deep in the novel.
But I agree with lonnie; they didn't all die (but obviously, some did), but they didn't hide, either.

You could pick up the books and try reading the story. The "Hobbit" is a great story as well.
