I know they're all good tools but which one is the best. I'm wanting to buy a reciprocating saw (also know as a sawzall) but i'm not sure which one to get. Please don't answer unless you have owned 2 or more of the brands for an accurate comparison. ie: if you've only owned a makita and not one of the other two please don't answer. I would also prefer someone that really puts them to the use, not someone that gets their tools out of the box a couple times a year for a quick project.

Milwaukee is best, followed by DeWalt. Makita is way down the list. I own a Milwaukee, a DeWalt, and a Craftsman. All are good saws. I use them on the job quite a bit. The Milwaukee will last longer than the others based on passed experience.

Your right they're all good. Basically what got me started was a combo set that I won at a grand opening at a local hardware store and basically my logic was stick with that brand or end up having several different types of battery chargers to lug around, several different batteries, and overall a huge mess of unneccessary clutter of different brand name tools.

I have not owned anything from Makita or Milwaukee, I own Dewalt tools, but I have used Makita, and Milwaukee. Knowing what I know now after using the tools I would choose Makita due to the lighter weight of their Lithium-Ion batteries. Milwaukee tools just seem more expensive at times, and the batteries aren't as easy to find in my area they're also somewhat heavier than Makita, but lighter weight than Dewalt.

I used to install Overhead Garage Doors for a living and after using a Dewalt 18V Impact driver all day, and then using a co-worker's Makita the next day, I would recommend the Makita. Like I said above its hard to find Milwaukee batteries in my area so I don't have any Milwaukee cordless tools. I have a Milwaukee 1/2" Drill and its been dropped off of 10' ladders, and it still works great, just doesn't look very pretty after all of the scuff marks and dropping, all the nice red is worn off the Milwaukee name plate, but other than that its still fully functional.

Installing garage doors is very hard on tools due to the stress they're constantly under. I could install a complete 16' X 8' Garage Door and Opener on 1 battery (if the battery was completely charged before hand) with my Dewalt Impact Driver.

My Co-worker had dewalt tools but sold them after he bought his Makita Tool set. If I had to do it over again I would buy a Makita Tool set, mainly due to the light weight.

As for the Milwaukee they're great tools but limited only to availability of accessories (batteries, repair locations although not needed often but nice to have a professional go through my tools every year or so and have worn parts replaced and the tools lubricated). Door install is very hard on tools so lubrication and maintenance is very critical. Dewalt has an authorized repair center about 30 miles from my house so it makes it convenient when I'm in town to drop a tool by for repair or service if needed.

I have owned all three, the Milwaukee is by far the best, Dewalt is good, and the Makita that I had was totally worthless. I had to tape a dollar bill to the handle when I threw it away to say that I threw away something of value.

Up at the ranch, we've had Makita and DeWalt... we NOW only have the DeWalt tools.

We had to dismember an old barn, and the Makita saws-all ended up shaking itself to pieces halfway through the job. BOTH tools were about 2 years old.

My sister-in-law blessed me last Christmas with a cordless DeWalt set (saws-all, drill, circular-saw, and lamp), and it is TERRIFIC!! Just throw it in the bucket of the tractor, or strap it onto the rack on one of the ATV's and we can do repairs, dismantlement, or even construction anywhere on the property.

GOOD LUCK
