I don't know that these people are "famous", but that they have eye-catching pages on MySpace. My son set up a page for the music group he and his friend belong to. They've gotten lots of hits on that page, some from friends some from people who viewed their page and liked what they saw and heard.
I think it's just creating an attractive page and a profile that shows who you are (just not obscene) that gets you noticed. (Just don't let anyone do to you what happened to Megan Meier, who committed suicide after "Josh" told her the world would be better off without her.)

Lil' Chris WAS NOT discovered on Myspace. He went on a Channel 4 tv show called 'Rock School'. The TV show saw Gene Simmons (from the band KISS) try to form a rock band out of a class of school children attending Kirkley High School (Chris's school). Unfortuantly, Lily Allen was.
