Do people who text message know how to spell?

Reading some of the questions out there is hard to do...spend an hour deciphering the text messaging lingo...

'yes to be honest its very annoying because you can't read it properly'

I text and sometimes speel words very stupidly and I think they are right! So whenever I text now i try to do it properly.

I agree! When I text I spell the words correctly and I expect the replyer to do the same. It don't save time shortening the words if it takes that much more time for the receiver to decipher them and get back to you.

Some of them do but mostly no. People should also do spell check around here to. I don't text message I IM and even I get confused with what they mean.

I have never pretended to be able to spell correctly but I find I make more errors on here because my fingers often hit two keys. The spell check is not always as helpful as it might be

Some of them do and most really don't know how to spell. I think that is why short abreviations got started on text messages, they just can't spell it correctly.

Depends on how old they are. I know I can spell pretty well, but when I start text messaging I start abbreviating. It's really obnoxious to go through and try to spell something out completely when you have to go g-h-I zero-space a-b-C *wait wait* A m-N T zero-space p-q-r-S *wait wait* zero-space P d-E j-k-L *wait wait* j-k-L poundkey-select !

r we really gonna go through this again someone else asked this same basic question yesterday get over it who cares if they can or cant spell its not ur concern get off the net if u dont like it cuz thats just how people do it these days go to an english class if u want perfect spelling writting n typing

Some can I'm sure but their syntax is usually skewed. Spelling does count unless you just want the world to think that you are stupid.
Just remember that bring is possesive and take is not. So don't tell someone to bring this to your daddy, tell them to take it to their daddy. If you want them to bring it, they'll have to bring it to you.
There, They're, and their are also used improperly a lot.

well it depends how they right it like if i say trying to abbreviate saying : " i need you to make a payment for my car insurance by tomorrow:

Txt: i need u 2 make a pmt 4my car ins. by 2mrw

wans't so hard..

i know how to spell but i always do the short way in texting (txtn)

i text 24/7 and yes i do know how to spell only sometimes it gets really annoying to type all the letters and my figure starts to hurt lol so i give up.
