Even if the fact that he is wealthy means that he can't possibly really care about less fortunate people (which is ridiculous), why does it matter? If he enacts policies that help these people, who cares why he's doing it?

If you simply oppose helping the poor in general, that is a completely separate issue....

Politicians do not want to help the less fortunate. they want to force us to help the less fortunate through taxation.

Edwards (and the other Democratic candidates) want to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the top 2% of taxpayers. That would most certainly include himself and most of the other presidential candidates.

Yes, we will probably need to give more eventually to provide the services and social safety net that most Americans will need. He has said that no matter who wins the election he and Elizabeth will be all right and so will the other candidates BUT how about the rest of America.

One Last quote:
It is time for our president to ask us to be patriotic about something besides war.

My main opposition to edwards, and the rest of the liberal democrats is, they want to confiscate through taxation, the money I make, and give it to whoever they think deserves it more. Many republicans are not much better. Remember, the government makes no money, it only has what it takes from the governed through taxes and other confiscatory measures.

When the rich man came to Jesus and asked to join him. "Sell everything you have and give to the poor,'' said Jesus to the rich man (Luke 18:22). The rich man turned away and left.

The passage basically tells that some people want to help but don't want to sacrafice anything themself.
