paved with rose petals.....or gravel and stones?

Both I am afraid, my parents divorced when I was 5 up until then I thought life was all rose petals! When Daddy left I was totally scarred for life, I have never come to terms with it, I know he cares but we struggled so bad and my mom worked so hard and he never paid child support and she died so young just 17 days after her 37th birthday and the day before my 19th. I miss her I miss her voice I miss so many things from the past, I have many happy memories but sometimes I cannot help but cry!

I have both, guess really we all do in one way or another...life can not be perfect...so we have the gravel and the stones...makes us appreciate the roses even more! Maybe that is where the saying stop and smell the roses came from..I do not know..but we really should enjoy the rose time!

Earlier, it was rose petals. Nowadays it's stones and gravel.

Rose petals, definitely! I had a great childhood and upbringing .... my husband's would be gravel and stones, poor guy... he did not have a good childhood :( I wish I could have shared mine with him!
