It's ridiculous, because I'm old enough now to be past it, but I'm scared of flushing the toilet! Well, not when it's closed, only if the lid is open because of all the germs that fly out... So I don't use public restrooms because they don't have lids! It's really quite stupid... But anyways I was wondering, IS THERE A NAME FOR MY PHOBIA? I don't know if it would be a fear of flushing, a fear of toilets, a fear of feces, a fear of germs, or a fear of public restrooms, there's like a billion things that tie into my fear.

well i know the germs don't "fly" out, but they do come out somewhat in a mist-like thing, i always thought they did, but then i saw a documentary on discovery health, then again on mythbusters.

they put blue dye in the water, the put a paper towel over the bowl, and flushed. sure enough, the paper towel got blue specks of water all over it, proving it DOES spray out...

i know, i'm paranoid...

You've probably got fear of contamination with germs, it's called Misophobia or Mysophobia, I have pretty much the same thing.

Mysophobia I guess. But, I think a toilet has to be really really filthy to have germs 'flying' out. Germs can't fly out of a toilet bowl. They stick to it.

.... Germs don't really "fly out".. that's kind of the hole point of the water...... plus it's a vortex down anyway.. not up... probably a lot more germs on the handle you flush with.

but no.. I don't know the name of that "phobia"

In addition, there's:

pathophobia, fear of disease
automysophobia, fear of being dirty
molysmophobia, fear of contamination
bacteriophobia, fear of bacteria
coprophobia, fear of fecal matter
homilophobia, fear of sermons
(I just like that one)

by the sounds of it you just have Misophobia or mysophobia- the fear of being contaminated with germs or dirt.

if you look like your avatar please never shave your head! :) you look cute :) to cure your phobia just flip the bird at some old freak who keeps staring at you... I think that should do the trick lol

take care bb
