hi people? i just woke up to find out that there was no power in some of my rooms in the house. No lights or outlets are working upstairs (when i plugged my cell phone charger it kept turning on and off) The furnace thermostat is on and says it's running but no heat is blowing. so the furnace is kind of DEAD right now. Washer works but the dryer seems like it needs more power to run and making weird noise.. the stove in the kitchen doesn't work, but the microwave works. lights and outlets are working in downstairs. how could this have happened? there are couple of construction sites right next to my door. could those idiots have done this to my house? i'm really worried since there's no heat. and the temperature keeps dropping. i live in Colorado so it's cold. :( i called XCEL ENERGY and reported it. but don't know when they'll come.

Sounds as though you've lost one of two power legs to the house. Calling XCEL was a good choice. They will get to you when they can, and won't charge you. If they tell you it's not on their end, you'll need to contact an Electrician. Why are the guys at the construction site idiots?

verify the breakers on your electric panel. seek for one breaker change that sounds like its interior the midsection as a replace of the on place. If each and every of the breakers are ok, odds are good that a impartial cord have been given knocked unfastened someplace, wherein case you call a expert. Any threat that somebody slammed a door?

Call the power company. It sounds like you lost one leg of your incoming power. Maybe due to the construction. Tell them just what I said, they will understand and come check it out.

It sounds like your outlets are on several different circuit breakers.
Locate the breakers, and see if any of them are in the "OFF", or middle, position.
If they are, flip the breaker all the way to the left, then to the right to turn it back on.

Do what Hippie Hank said and also, call an electrician out to see why you tripped your circuit breaker.
