I live out in the country and have a water well. A few months ago I started having problems with water pressure in my house. Now I have dirt coming out of the faucets in the house. What could be causing this and more importantly, how can I fix it? This just started yesterday. I have never delt with fixing water well problems before so I am totally dumb about them. I do know that the water well is about 15 years old. I will use any help I can get.

It could be a crack in the piping coming to the house. Especially if it is PVC pipe. It can become brittle.

Do you have any type of water filtration system between the well and your home? If so check the sedament filter to make sure it is not clogged or ruptured. If not check into having a sedament filter installed shouldn't cost very much to have done. It sounds like you might have had a small collapse in your well. You will also need to unscrew the screen traps on your faucets and clean them out they should be at the end of your spickets.

It may be rust in the tank.

See if you can pump some water directly from the ground, bypassing the tank and see how the water looks. If the water looks fine, it is likely the tank and you ought to have a professional take a look.

The sand point on the end of the well pipe is more then likely shot and letting sand in. Have it checked and replaced.
