Perhaps they are having difficulty getting a competant electrician at this time of year. Perhaps they really are trying to find you an alternative. New storage heaters cost a fortune to install. We just had a storage heater replaced in a rental property and it cost over £300. We couldn't afford to replace all of the heaters unless they were unsafe.

You can't actually say they are doing nothing, can you? At least they tried to do something about it by turning up themselves.

The problem with storage heaters is that they work overnight and go off in the daytime so it sounds as if they are working just not the way you want. You knew that the property had storage heaters when you rented it and it would be unreasonable to expect the landlord to change it because you don't like how it works.

If you can't live with the heating system maybe you should get yourself a few of those inexpensive oil-filled radiators or alternatively give notice and find another property.

Unqualified people working on electricity always make me nervous. For your and your children's safety, please make sure that you have smoke detectors with good batteries. Space heaters can be fire hazards.

Hopefully you won't, but if you use fuel-burning heating appliances in your home, you will likely need carbon monoxide detectors too, as these are only supposed to be used in a well-ventilated (open!) area.

Your children's well being is more important than any relationship with any landlord.

They must provide you with heat. Call your local housing authority to see if they can provide you assistance in getting the landlord "off the stick".

I guess I'd tough it out or report them to the authorities. If they neglect the problem for too long the pipes will freeze and burst then perhaps they will have learned that it's best to deal with problems quickly.

A SPACE HEATER AT WALMART COSTS $19.00

Just go buy one for the time being while they are solving the problem.

Sheesh....... How cheap are you that you wont spend $19.00 to keep your kids warm.
