Is it ok that I only spent $30 on a gift for my friend w/benefits that I've only known 2 months? I don't really have alot of $ to spend on him....but he spent several hundred dollars on mine! I need to know what he's going to think when I hand him my $30 gift. He smokes so I got him a zippo lighter w/his favorite NFL team. He told me I didn't have to get him anything expensive...& he got me my gift b/c he wanted to. He has told me before that he isn't looking for a serious relationship. So since he doesn't want to be serious I thought that my gift would be enough. I thought I had been thoughtful & done good & then he told me he bought me a Coach purse & suddenly my gift seemed to suck. He does have more $ than I do though. Is he going to expect more or is my little $30 gift ok? Btw, I have a $65 gift card that I bought for him too but now I'm thinking about using it to finish up for the other people I have to buy for.

Your gift is fine and especially in the situation your in with him, he isn't your boyfriend and it isn't serious with him. You don't have a lot of money and he knows this. He doesn't expect a gift from you and he obviously has money to spend and he cares about you. I would give him the lighter and call it a day. It is a great gift that you know he will love.

Stop stressin! This is supposed to be a fun time of the year... and if he is around next year then you start to worry about it a little more. But he is already happy with what you have given him over the past couple of months... let him spoil you now if he wants to... if he said he wasn't into a commitment then keep it light hearted and fun... I'd almost go out and buy him the game Twister :) And when he opens your gift tell him... you wanted it to be a memorable gift considering your "relationship" haha

I'm only saying this because I've been in your position before. It def isn't worth stressing over... if he wants to stay around he will... and if he goes sooner than later... did you really want to keep him around anyway???

So relax and have fun!

Keep the gift card. The zippo is plenty, It was a thoughtful gift and It's usually a given that the guy will spend more than the girl. Don't sweat it!

don't get caught in the capitalist struggle. The gifts I remember the most and truly appreciated were things like cookies or handmade crafts. Christmas is found in the heart not the store. Give something measured by love not dollars and cents.
WOW! a thumbs down. I guess Eric Cartman was right, Christmas IS bought in a store.

It's okay. Go with the gift that you originally was going to give , If he doesn't like it then that's his loss it's the thought that counts anyways.
Merry Christmas.

I wouldn't stress it. If he is unhappy then he shouldn't have said not to worry about getting him anything. Besides you can pick up a new coach purse for under $100 hundred, prada too!

You are fine - don't overspend just to do what others do. Give what you can from the heart and that's it.
You've already given him your body.
Use that Gift Card to do whatever you wish.

Why did he tell you what he got you?

I wouldn't worry about your gift to him...my husband has ALWAYS spent more on me than I have on him...some guys are just like that.

If he really likes his football team it'll be fine. You have to remember it's not how much you spend, just how much thought you put into it. I think the lighter is fine.
