All I see when I look through papers like The Express, Daily Mail etc all I see is sensationalism and speculation, which celeb's got cellulite this week and how everything is to be blamed on the ethnic minorities. Even news channels like the BBC and Sky News are shoddy and I've yet to see a balanced report in all sources mentioned above. The only paper I can find which offers balanced reports is the Times!

I believe the media have a lot to answer for. They create hatred and uproar and only seem to focus on negative issues and this really frustrates me. Why can't they just report things which have happened and offer a fair and balanced piece. What has happened to journalism and the media? They're fuelling the fires of the ignorant causing fear and hatred in society. What do you think should be done? Do you have the same opinion?

Fueling hatred towards ethnic minorities doesn't seem a view a liberal paper would hold.

This is where I go for news. Most of the media get their news here too.
There are no editorial sub plots or hidden agenda here either.

I totally agree with everything you've said and I think it's about time the media were taken in hand - don't ask me who by because I don't know, but something's got to be done! A good start, IMHO, would be to shut down most of the tabloids (starting with the Mail and the Express) because they're the main culprits for fuelling hatred, problems and negativity in society.

You've heard the old saw, I'm sure, "Sex sells!"

Well, the media version of this is "If it bleeds, it leads." In short, the media (print or electronic) are trying to maintain their audience anyway they can. Look at the US's CNN. There's no such thing as unbiased reporting there.

The more gossip and salacious articles, the more papers sold, the more viewers, etc.

It is all about ratings. Any media reports what is a guaranteed rating, not actual news....they mangle, juggle and misinterprets everything to make it sound like they want it to sound.
Iraq is a horrible thing but if you speak directly to a vet they will tell you that the hype is BS, (though we shouldn't be there).
Media is garbage

Ew!

Sounds like your news is becoming like what we get over here in the US.

At least now there's the web, where you can get real news, if you know where to look.
