It's like the guy who gets pulled over for drunk driving, and tells the cop, "I only had a couple of beers."
Maybe it's true that he only took steriods once, but that's what almost everybody who gets caught, says. And, the more people that say it, the harder it is to believe.

I hate to be a skeptic, but I agree that it's really hard to picture someone using steroids once and then giving them up completely. I think everyone involved in this scandal is now trying to minimize the damage as much as possible, and this is one way of doing so.
Really, he could be telling the truth here. Given that none of these players, though, came out and admitted use before being named in the report, it's more than a little difficult to believe them.

No way that Roberts just used it once... No one uses it once... At least he came out about it... Hopefully some of the others will follow suit.

When someone says they used steroids once they usually mean they took one cycle. Not that they took one pill or one injection. Cycles usually last 4-8 weeks.

Definitely. All of the players are going to follow the Andy Pettitte example and confess to using the substances in such a way that they don't paint themselves as regular users. "I only used it to help recover from an injury quicker to help the team." should actually read "I used them regularly to jack my stats and get a better contract."

They admit they have done them, but then offer up excuses. No, I don't believe Roberts only did them once. Everytime I hear one of these baseball players talk, I go take a shower.

Yeah, you're right. Everyone sucks. Everyone stinks. Everyone lies. Even coming clean, people can't tell the truth. Life sucks. Roberts sucks. Everything sucks and sucks and sucks. Everyone is baseball sucks. No one anywhere is any good. Happy?

Maybe he didn't realize they only work when you use them constantly. If he didn't see any results after taking them the one time, maybe he stopped. You gotta give him the benefit of the doubt.

I was shocked to find out his name was on the report. Normally, he would be one of the O's you would least expect.
