I have seen similar stories through the years. The USPS delivers a lot of mail and either handles it well (in most cases) but occasionally mishandles it . Some mail does get permanently lost , some will get lost temporarily and some will be lost for decades. With regard to the latter, a letter or card will accidentally and unknowingly end up behind a radiator, a storage case or get kicked under a shelf, equipment, etc. These decades old letters and cards are most often found when a post office undergoes some renovations and removes the old cases, equipment, shelves, or radiators, etc. Generally, a workman doing the renovations will yell, "Holy c**p Joe, look at this, a post card from 1902!"

I believe with all of the mail that is delivered on a daily basis, I can see how something of this nature could happen . Especially, such a smal item. How many time we receive mail and actually place for the postman to deliver it to the proper area? We sometimes tend to lag on these items when it looks like junk mail. Mind you, this is no excuse but it happens. Could thing that individual was still around to treasure this postcard.

There have been stories like this one before. It probably got lost and someone finally found it.
