It relates pretty well to the state of contemporary politics.
Instead of arguing the benefits of a society dominated by big business interests, GOP corporatists have used 'morality', religion and subtle racism to further their agenda.
Smoke and mirrors.

I'm sure we can all agree that lobsters are aquatic animals. Does that mean that all aquatic animals are lobsters? According to most people who have answered so far, it is indeed so.
I think that a lot of people with a poor grasp of logic and no understanding of fascism will interpret this statement by Lewis to mean "When something wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross comes to America, it's fascism."
A piece of advice to those who consider themselves "sophisticated, thinking people": kill your darlings. That is to say, stop thinking in one-liners, regardless of who authored them. I do appreciate eloquent quotes, but only for their esthetic value; to try to encapsulate the complexity of life and millions of people's feelings and beliefs in a bumper sticker is fashionable, but pathetic. And also, stop looking into the mouths of Nobel Prize laureates. They aren't prophets and they aren't oracles. Consider their opinions (opinions, not bumper-sticker quotes), but formulate your own. Don't be a follower -- your head isn't just for wearing hats, eating, and parroting celebrities' lines.

I think the most interesting thing is that this is coming from Ron Paul... really now, what did Huckabee ever do to him?

A very sad and insulting comment. This must be why he won.he is so good with words. Ron Paul should not have used it to insult Huckabee .I do not care for Huckabee but i do not like religion and our flag used as a mud throwing item.

Christians killing each other over their mythical differences (Protestant and Catholic wars, the killing of free-thinking infidels) was the proximate cause of the First Amendment. It was one of the greatest achievements in social engineering in human history (separation of church and state).
It would be a tragedy to forget the lessons of history.

That Nobel committee is decidedly anti-American and Huckabee seems only slightly less liberal than Paul.
