This painting is not for everyone and you have to have an understanding of both the Classical Period and Surrealism but it would have to Dante and Virgil in Hell by William-Adolphe Bouguereau. In fact the entire living room would have to be designed around the painting and it would not work at all in my current living room.

If I cannot make any changes to my current living room, It would have to be Broadway Boogie Woogie by Piet Mondrian. Not only does this painting have a wider appeal but it is easier to understand.

A freind of mine did a picture of his wife when she was pregant with their first child. It was a big canvas but a beautiful picture Mostly green leaves and vines surrounding a naked pregnant figure. Dan called the work "Goddess" and for the longest time it stood in the New Age shop I worked in. Price Tag 5000$. I admired it daily. Eventually someone purchased it -- to Dan's delight and my loss.
I would love to have it in my living room. it belongs among the Masters. It was just so beautiful.

There's not any one piece I can name for certain. But I would definitely be scouring the galleries for that one that speaks to me. Those are always out of my proce range.
